Project close out

Traprain was retained by an Alliance of some of the leading offshore oil and gas contractors in the world to assist in the close out of the Sable gas project in Nova Scotia, Canada. This project not only involved a number of offshore gas platforms and associated pipelines, but also onshore gas plants and pipelines in Nova Scotia itself.

The project had been developed as an Alliance and Traprain was able to bring particular expertise to the intricate task of closing out the Alliance, where there were a number of complex technical and legal issues. The challenge was to achieve closure in a non-adversarial way, maintaining good relationships between all of the parties. Traprain also managed external advisors (both technical and legal) in several countries and provided a cost effective solution to the clients to resolve all issues that arose.

The clients involved in this project were ABB, Allseas, AMEC, Black & McDonald, Kellogg Brown & Root, Kvaerner, and Saipem. These companies are all market leaders in their respective areas of specialisation, and their use of Traprain reflects the high level of confidence that companies in this sector are willing to place in Traprain’s services.

“Traprain provided a key central coordinating role in dealing with the close out of this very complicated project, and worked with all of the Contractors in a helpful and good humoured way at every stage in the transaction. Their involvement added positive value in dealing with issues without rancour wherever possible.” Herb Jacklin, Project Director, Kellogg Brown & Root Ltd.
